I’m Back

Nice to be back here again. It’s been quite some time since I posted last. This time I’ll try and make a posting at least once a week. That is, of course, when I don’t get stuck with a long lists of things to do which I seem to get every so often. Many Thanks to those who have been an avid follower of Pinoy United Magazine.

Gretchen Barretto’s Credit Card Scandal

Gretchen Barretto is on the news again. Gretchen doesn’t seem to run out of controversies. The latst of which is Ms. Barretto’s credit card scandal. One Sunday evening, Gretchen Barretto was having dinner with Ruffa Gutierrez and Pops Fernandez in one of the outlets of Hotel Dusit in Makati. When Gretchen Barretto tried to settle her bill, her credit card was denied.
The waiter repeatedly tried to swipe the card a few times but the payment request was denied. Gretchen Barretto, surprised about the incident, insisted that that it was impossible. However, despite the waiter’s further attempt, Gretchen’s credit card payment request was rejected by the machine.

Ruffa Gutierrez settled their bill instead. Apparently, Tony boy Cojuangco was seen at the hotel shortly after the credit card payment rejection incident. Some witnesses swore that Barretto raised her voice several times and her man looked very upset.

I always bring a couple of credit card, at least. A visa and a master card credit card. If one fails, you have the other as back up. It’s good to bring in some money, but you wouldn’t really want to carry a big amount of money with you, do you? Just ensure to make full payment when your credit card bill is due so as not to incur any interest charges.

Carly Smithson is out of American Idol

Carly Smithson is the latest amongst Top 6 Idols to be ousted out of American Idol 2008 competition. Carly is probably one of the idols who has a wide range of voice. She does have that rock tempo on her voice. But it can’t be ignored that she does shout a bit on some of the songs she performed throughout the American Idol competition. Unfortunately, it remains a popularity contest. It’s quite clear that she’s not a favourite of the public having been at the bottom three for 3-4 times.

Shine Away

I always wanted a brand new top of the range car. However, for practical reasons, I decided to stick with a not so new car. Definitely not a premium car either but it definitely does it job very well. Take me from A to B.

Viva Las Vegas

I think I have mentioned our recent holiday in Orlando quite a bit now. I’ll try not to mention it too often. We’re hoping that we’ll be able to go on holiday in the Philippines for five weeks later on this year. However, we do like to take a couple of decent breaks annually. It provides an opportunity for us to unwind and “chillax”. This is the joy of having seven and a half weeks paid leave each year. But should we decide to go out of the country for our holiday, a warmer place is definitely preferred.

Cheap bread, anyone?

As the price of gas rose, prices of other commodities and services had risen as well. Pan de sal, a rounded bread usually eaten by Filipinos during breakfast, has now gone up to over 2 pesos each. Unbelievably, the price of pan de sal has almost tripled from what it was a decade ago. Thanks to a charitable Church run bakeshop, less fortunate ones can now afford to buy more for their money. Pan de Savio, a bakery base in Mandaluyong city, sells a piece of pan de sal for P1.75.
