I’m off to London to visit the Queen

I’m off to London today, but not exactly to visit the Queen. I have a 3 day workshop/conference to attend.

To limit the number of private vehicles in the capital, the government had introduced some traffic schemes, congestion charge, being one of them. Coupled with a limited/expensive parking fees, people are a lot more dependent on the use of public transport when they go to work. The “tube” is what we always use whenever we travel within Central London.

Here is a video on what some feels about the London Underground. It’s just over a minute. It’s worth watching.

Good fun to go for a day out or two. Or perhaps a whole week. But absolutely not for me to live and work, when you have 2 kids. I really am glad that I don’t live in London and therefore don’t have to endure all the delays and traffic jams each day.Nevertheless, despite all this I still love London. Have a lovely week.

  1. wow!! sama naman kami sa london, ang sosyal mo naman… d2 mo kaya subukan ang traffic s Pinas?? hehehe…

    have a happy trip!!!

  2. I actually think the tube is a brilliant way to commute within London. But I avoid travelling down to London like the plague! I don’t like the pollution, the rat race and the lack of security. But then again, how else am I going to see all the historical bits of London if I don’t?

    Have fun!

  3. hi! thanks for visiting my blog. actually, hindi ako sa london naka-base. pilipinas pa rin ako. we went there for business (i work for a tv station in manila) but i plan to go back there this year, if i get the scholarship that i am applying for.

panalo ang london underground, much better than new york’s subway. :)

  4. @ rachel - siya sakay na.

@ joy - completely agree. it’s absolutely fine if you’re visitng London for holiday. It’s to endure all the things you mentioned on a daily basis that I don’t think I would like at the moment. I had it all back home. But at least, I have far more support network back home than here. Overall, London is still superb.

Perhaps, in the future, this may change.

@kurokuro - not been to New York yet mate, but judging from some of the films/shows I’ve seen, perhaps London underground is better.

Still prefer it than Paris Metro.

  5. paris metro is eerie, nyeee… katakot. hindi pa ko nakarating sa london so i dont know. pero dito sa alemanya… mukhang okay naman ang train stations dito siguro kasi karamihan e newly renovated na e.

  6. Paris Metro has a different appeal. I wouldn’t say eerie at baka ma offend naman sila lola Raqs:)

  7. Dito ka pumasyal sa place namin, walang traffic!

    Enjoy your stay in London.

  8. Funny video… but I wouldn’t mind living in London… there is so much to do there… and I like big cities!

  9. Salamat po. nakabalik na po ako. 3 day conference lang siya.

  10. I do love big cities as well. Hope you didn’t get me wrong. I just find it a bit of hustle particularly when you have kids.
