American Idol 2008 contestants now down to 16

Pinoy United

American Idol 2008 season 7 is getting much tougher as four more aspiring American Idols had been evicted from this weeks Top 20 Idols competition. Ryan Seacrest mentioned there were over 30 million voted for this weeks competition - wow not bad at all for a show which allegedly according to American Idol haters was loosing its lustre.

American Idol 2008

To be included in the top 24, let alone in the top 20, amongst thousands of American Idol hopefuls is such a great honour. Sadly it’s good bye for bubbly Alexandrea Lushington, emotional and embarrassed Alaina Whitaker, not so much of a rocker Robbie Carrico and taking head banging to a new level Jason Yeager. I do hope that their exposure in the American Idol 2008 Semi Finals will help boost their singing career should they decide to carry on. Good luck guys and gals.

Next week, American Idols are down to 16 and four more contestants will leave the competition. The Top 12 American Idols, 6 guys and 6 girls, will then compete for the finals. Far more interesting than last years competition, I tell you. So keep on watching.

Don’t Leave Me This Way, Ramiele Malubay

Pinoy United

Last night, Ramiele Malubay sings Don’t Leave Me This Way on American Idol 2008 Top 10 girls competition. Watch this video:

And here’s what the judges said:

Randy thought it was okay, Paula didn’t think Ramiele Malubay got to perform her magic, Simon thought it wasn’t her best but Ramiele Malubay is one of the top three singers from the American Idol 2008 girls group. And to get a comment like that from Simon who gets more thrilled in giving “constructive criticism” is absolutely fantastic. You can see how happy Ramiele was from her eyes.

Pinoy United

I must admit, I don’t like the song she chose but I thought Ramiele Malubay did justice to it. Listen to it one more time, compare it to the other girls peformance and you’ll surely agree with me. I can only hope that she gets to choose a better song for next week.

Are you a fan of Ramiele Malubay? If it’s 80’s music next week, what song should she pick?

American Idol 2008 Top 10 Guys

American Idol 2008 Season 7 Top 24 is now down to 20 when they eliminated 2 guys and girls last week. Tonight it’s the Top 10 guys turn to perform and wow the American voters. Last week theme was 60’s music. Guess what on this weeks show. It’s the 70’s music.

Yes You Can

Kaya Mong Maging Dakila (You can be a hero) is a collaboration of 40 artists that joined together to sing about Philippine political issues. It would be nice to just turn your back against all the bad things that’s been happening around us but I think that’s living in unreal world. Sadly, Philippine government had been embroiled with numerous political issues including the ZTE broadband scandal recently. Watch this related video:

Star Wars Saga continues

Don’t we all wish that the Star Wars saga isn’t over yet. Perhaps, they can create more prequels to the prequels. But this is perhaps asking to snow in Manila. Never mind, I guess I just have to watch my dvd collection every now and again. Whilst browsing youtube video I’ve stumbled upon this Star Wars inspired video of two person, battling it out using lightsabre. Who said it can only be done by Lucas Films? It’s worth watching.

Social Climbing Logo Contest

It was such a difficult task to vote on this social climbing logo contest. It was even made harder due to the fact that I “know” some of them online from their blogs and from wp-pinoys. To maintain my online reputation, despite all the offers made by contestants, I have decided to judge this logo competition purely on the basis of the theme i.e. social climbing.

Amy Winehouse - Grammy Awards 2008

Amy Winehouse had her major breakthrough over four yearS ago and she had received numerous accolades and awards since then. This year, Amy Winehouse won 2008 Grammy Awards in the categories of ‘Record of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, and ‘Best Female Pop Vocal Performance‘ for the single “Rehab”, while her album Back to Black won in the ‘Record of the Year’ award and a nomination for ‘Album of the Year’. She also earned a Grammy in the ‘Best New Artist‘ category. Now that’s fantastic, isn’t it?

Amy Winehouse - Winner of Grammy

It’s a shame Amy Winehouse didn’t make it in the U.S to received all those awards as her US visa petition was apparently denied. Was it due to drug addiction/drug related issues? Amy had her visa approved eventually but it was rather too late for her to travel for the Grammy Awards Night 2008 event. Instead, Winehouse performed “You Know I’m No Good” and “Rehab” at the awards ceremony on 10th February 2008 via satellite.

Journey concert in Vina del Mar Chile 2008

It was such a long wait from the time Journey announced that they have finally chosen the new lead singer, Arnel Pineda, to the date of their first ever concert. This time their Journey was in Chile.

The Journey Concert in Vina del Mar Chile 21st February 2008 was fantastic. The festival at Vina del Mar arena were they held the Journey concert was absolutely huge and completely filled. The Chilean crowd were awesome. All cheering, shouting and singing with the band. Couldn’t help myself to be jealous when I watched the Journey’s youtube video. Unfortunately, it was rather too far for me to attend. Will have to wait on Journey’s upcoming European concert tour. I’m hoping that UK will be in their list.

All eyes were with Arnel Pineda, not just in the concert but from Journey’s fans all over the world. The Journey concert at Vina del Mar in Chile was Arnel Pineda’s very first of many concert to come and he did a grand job. Very well indeed.

Here’s where Arnel Pineda of Journey sang Open Arms.
