Indeed, Pinoy Idol is now part of the Kapuso Channel GMA 7. Philippine Idol, hosted by ABC 5, the first Philippine franchise awarded by FremantleMedia of the popular reality tv singing contest Pop Idol, has now ceased operation. It was believed that ABC 5 has given up the franchise due to poor advertisement/sponsorship despite having such a considerable follower.

Mau Marcelo the first winner of Philippine Idol is obviously discounted as GMA claimed this is the first Pinoy Idol. Oh well, at least she’s now a household name after competing from the first Asian Idol contest.

Let’s hope that Pinoy Idol last longer than the predecessor Philippine Idol. Being hosted in one of the biggest network, it most likely will.
