What’s next after passing the Nursing Board Exam?

If you are a recent Nursing graduate and had passed the Philippine Nursing Board Exam, chances are you’re one of the hundreds of thousands of nurses queuing up hospitals to inquire for any nursing vacancies. Most qualified nurses would target huge tertiary hospitals (both public and private) within Metro Manila. Unfortunately, with the amount of applicants they receive across the country, vacancy for nurses might be limited from this hospitals.

It is important not to disregard the benefits of networking. This can be achieved by linking up with your fellow Pinoy nursing colleagues as well as attending any nursing conferences and expo. The First Pinoy Nurses Expo 2008 will be held on March 8-9, 2008 at the Megatrade Hall 2, 5th floor Bldg. B in SM Megamall. This maybe something that you may try to explore.

Pinoy Nurses Expo

Equally, the 2nd Philippine Nursing Opportunity and Expo will be held on 4-6 April 2008 at the SM Megatrade Hall 3.

Philippine Nursing Opportunities Conference and Expo 2008

Whilst waiting for your dream job in your chosen nursing field, it is not unwise to apply for a nursing job in another hospital close to your residence. It would save you time and money which would have been spent on traveling. You could then focus all your energy on all the learning opportunities available in the workplace.

Below is the list of Philippine Hospitals, check them out and see which one has a vacant post in nursing that you can apply.

Welcome to the Nursing world. Good luck.

  1. I want to apply in the Ospital ng Montinlupa

  2. I am presently working for a call center here in Mandaluyong City after several attempts to apply for a hospital work from several metro manila hospitals. I hope that it is not my age , which is 45 yrs. old, which is a factor affecting my application for I am also as capable as any fresh graduate around. I obtained my Nursing degree in April 2007 and passed the Nursing board exam in June 2007.
Given the opportunity , I would like to be given a chance to serve and work as a nurse in a hospital setting. I hope someone hears my prayers and grant me the job I long for.

  12. greetings!! fellow RNs.(with special mention to:remigio, alvin, april)….you’re not alone .hehehe.mine is one case as your own.. pilipinas??? it’ll remain stagnant(and degrading) pagdating sa health, economy, and all aspects na..sorry to say pero true nman tlga. one can never find a nursing job in manila and other hospitals unless mabago/magbago ang bulok na style ng mga higher ranked officials and operators/owners. di na mawawala ‘yang backer backer na ‘yan. one thing more, let’s consider na lang ung present status ng PILIPINAS!!! we have growing numbers of unemployed nurses today. Sana nman maaksiyonan ng government(please lang)… guys let’s go do volunteer duties na lang. PRAY to GOD and hope for the best. It will work!! Trust me.

  13. hi just wanna ask kung merong hospital sa metro manila na willing tumanggap ng volunteer nurse..kahit wala akong weldo ok lang..haha..hmmm…kahit bayadan ko pa sila..and kung ikoconsider ba un as an experience at ndi as volunteer or as a trainee..replay p kau tnx

  14. haYYY!!! wag na kau mg aksaya ng tym!!! malas ntin ng nursing tayo.. 2yrs na ako RN. cge p rin training sa davao until now.. hndi p rin employed.. cge lng dont loose hope.. ders a lot of hospital pa na man hu offers “trainings”, Business yan ng hospital ehh!! poor exploited nurses..

  15. hehe i have the same sentiments guys…I graduated last march 2008 and passed the june 2008 board exam..wala pa rin ako job sa hospital til now.. I quit call center na nga to focus on nursing eh but no such luck so far.. me alam ba kayo hospital na nagpapa-volunteer dito sa paranaque? thanx..

  16. hi poh.. im hoping that nurses pinoy expo will be repeated in 2009.. hoping that you will inform me about that.. thank you very much..-sjdefi batch 2007 =p

  17. for those who are fresh grads and RNs, post kayo ng resume sa jobstreet.com waaahhh! maraming opportunities for us. i just joined the jobstreet campus recently and nagulat ako sa daming pwedeng career.. yun nga lang, hindi lahat hospital setting.. yun iba, company nurse.. basta try niyo lang.. good luck! Mabuhay ang mga Pilipinong Nars!

  18. yeah, anghirap maging nurse dito sa pinas..matapos mung mag aral ng pagkamahal mahal, aun, u’ll just end up being a volunteer for 2 years or less..bigyan naman sana ng karampatang respeto ang nursing profession.. kum baga, parang sa doctor..anghirap pa ma employ..lagi nalang experience ang hanap..how can we start having the experience kung ganun nalang lagi diba..why can’t the people on authorities see this issue, this growing problem of young Pinoy nurses..wag naman kayo magpakamanhid pls…

  19. saan ba hosp pwede mag work>???? kahit volunteer lang muna…. d2 sa manila… hayhay… nakakabagot tlga…. willing to work any shift, holidays, kahit saan…. bahala na… hehe

  20. pipz!tiis2 nlng djan…ako nga d2 eh…1yr na sa UAE,,,gradauted last april 2007 and passed the exam last june 2007…

*crosses fingers* pero mas prefer ko sana ngayon while waiting for my nclex eligibility, nagte-training din sa government hospitals. but i guess kelangan talaga may backer..or swertihan lang talaga. let’s keep trying our best. im sure any hardwork will pay off. soon… :)

  22. huh! yeah right fellas! I graduated March 2008 and passed the NLE june 2008..until now, i have no work..hirap maghanap ng work sa ngayon.. kaya last week nagtraining muna ako sa red cross..haha! BLS-CPR at first aid..haaayy.. sana makahanap na..=) GoD bless fellas!

  23. hi…im a grad of april 2007..just passed the board exam last november 2008…im looking for any hospital accepting a volunteer nurse or training…can anyone help me????i don’t really know what to do next…

  24. nkkta ko sa mga comment nyo. na tlagang overloaded na ng nurses d2 pinas. kung kayong june 2008 passers wla pa work panu na kaya kaming mga november 2008 passers hayyy kakalungkot naman.. pero wag tau mawalan pag asa. basta may cpag may tyaga at dont forget to pray becoz God’s plan for us is to be sucessful and God works in a way we cannot see..Just have faith and pray. trust God’s plan, trust God for everything basta apply pa din ng apply… Good Luck satin and God Bless us all…….. :-)

  25. kahit volunteer go ako… hirap makahanap ng work! kahit magbayad ok lang ganun naman ang racket ngayon haha

  31. I’m saddened by the fact that most of my classmates and friends are now off to various call centers working as agents after passing the board exam. Sobrang hirap makakuha ng work. Unfortunately, even those who don’t want to work there will be forced to do so because of financial constraints and/or nagging parents… Hay…

  34. I am a second courser batch 2007 pass the board Dec 2007. I wasn’t able to train after I passed the board due to some family problems I need to settle. When its time for me to apply as a trainee I was disappointed that the chief nurse said malayo daw yung line ko sa pagiging nurse just because my first course was AB mass Com and my job experience was to be an officer of the bank. I felt it’s unfair becuase I underwent what is expected of me as a student nurse and was able to pass the board . Also I felt discriminated just because I am 42. If that’s the case why will CHED allow second coursers.

  35. ai naku kahit NCLEX passer pa, hirap din. in and out the country hirap talaga. june 2008 batch po ako and i took nclex early this 2009 pero hirap pa rin makakita ng work as a nurse. kahit sa states under EB3 immigrant visa dahil sa retrogression. dito din sa pinas hirap. para yatang ang may disease at retrogression ay utak ng mga nasa itaas na rank. sana makita nila ang kahirapan dala ng sistema nila.

  36. i’m a newly BSN grad and i passed the recently june2009 board exam . . . as much as possible i wanted to have a job rather than avail of the trainings or volunteering, so naginquire ako sa mga ospital, one of them is the east ave hospital, sabi wala na bakante, pero malaman-laman ko na yung pamangkin ng kakilala namin na kapareha ko lang na kapapasa ng board exam eh nakapasok at mag contract signing na, grabe! ang hirap na nga pumasok dahil sa financial crisis, may palakasan crisi pa, hehehe . . . anyways, yun lang,

  37. ..hay naku,,aq nga june 2007 pa nkpasa,,san now?sa finance ngwowork,,,ahaha,,,mga natutulog nah kinauukulan..gmcing kau,,bka sooner,,,la nah mg aral ng nursing..la nah mgalaga sa nyu,,,bleh!

Volunteering is a No-No for me.

  39. how about us sa mga probinsya?? paano na kami??

  40. Wala, wala na talagang pag asa mga nurse dito lalo na sa Manila.. backer system, trainings na ikaw pa ang magbabayad.. right from the very start pinerahan lang kayo (tayo pala, sorry) mula sa mga eskwelahan hanggang sa mga pa training training na yan, maging sa mga AGENCY PA Abroad!!!..Oversupply.. kaya EXPLOITED!!!! wish niyo na lang sana mag World War 3 para magamit lahat ng pinoy nurses.. sobrang dami!!! and it just keeps on coming.. i really regret taking up this course.. syempre ang laki ng expectations ng family mo kesyo makakaabroad and such.. sus..mostly gusto mag migrate…now you’d wish na sana di na naging independent and Pinas eh di sana di na kelangan ang Visa pa US>>>.

  42. is ospital ng maynila open for volunteer nurses??

anywho,…..I guess if you really want to practice nursing instantly after the board exams or knowing that you have passed… head to your province and practice there.. if dito lang sa manila… pahirapan talaga.. arfff….

  43. waw dami nga natin. fast supply-slow demand d2 sa pinas. wala tayong masisisi sa nangyayari ngayon, both sides may reason. whether we like it or not, ganito tlga ung kahihinatnan natin pagkatapos ng skul. ako nga pa extra-extra ngaun as hotel nurse at saka private nurse din — no assurance no-insurance. just pray guys im sure my plans si Bro’ . just be prepared.

let me share some quote, hope mkadagdag hope: hehehe=)

“LUCK is when preparation meets oppurtunity.”

Godbless sa atin lahat, i know may mararating din tayo-kaya yan!

  44. hi, i have been an RN since 2007 and the only experience i have is 1 year school nurse and from an international school catering korean students.. what pisses me off is that they dont consider that as a working experience if you want to work on a hospital. and hospitals here in Baguio charges the “volunteer nurse”for P4,000.00 or some at P2,000.00 before they accept you. OMG kabit lang ba talaga sa pangalan ntn ang RN merely just an accessory to our names??

  45. I wanted to work in a hospital within Manila City. I passed the Nursing board examination last January 2008. I find it hard applying for a nursing job in Manila because of the many nurses who are unemployed. I have been working as call center agent.

  49. i’m a fresh grad this april 2009 and passed the board exam nung june.. grabe super hirap pala talaga mag-apply.. kung gusto nyo magvolunteer try nyo sa santa cruz, laguna, tumatanggap sila dun. but sobrang hirap ng process ng pag aapply.. provincial hos[ital, 6 mos. and walang kasiguruhan na mahahie nila kayo.. basta have faith.. kung wala talaga, try nyo ibang work, bata pa naman tayo.. may mga tao talaga na minsan nde destined magwork dun sa related field nila. iba iba ang plano ni God.. nasa sa inyo yan kung pano nyo didiskartehan ang buhay.. :) basta pray lang kayo and God will provide something better for you..
