Philippine Independence Day in London
This is a little too early but would it not be interesting to find out what’s in store for the coming 110th Philippine Independence day 2008 celebration in London and across the UK.
Last year’s celebration, Filipinos in and out of London had gathered over the weekend to celebrate the 109th Philippine Independence Day in a Surrey park . Thousands had witnessed the two day event which was organised by KASAPI UK. Though it had rained on and off (very unusual!!!) throughout the whole event, everyone had braced the weather and absolutely enjoyed the presentation.
This photo was taken before the main event.
The event featured a lot of Filipino artist both known and upcoming. Some of them who participated were Sam Milby, Sheryn Regis, Joanna Ampil, CJ Idos, Rachel Lacebal, “Peter Parker” and Ian Venida among others. They performed a variety of presentations on singing and dancing which included a showcase of traditional dances in different parts of country wearing Filipiniana outfit.
Tinikling. Perfomed by Lahing Kayumanggi.
And of course it wasn’t complete without the appearance of Allan K who was referred to as “Pambansang Ilong ng Pilipinas” for which he was very proud of. Lots of gigles, laughing, cheering and happy faces as he presents his comic acts. Some involved participation of selected audiences. “Miss Universe 2007 competition”, difference on treatment of a rich and a poor person to name a few, as well as, a variety of singing and dancing performance. On his finale, he sang the “Ang Bayan kong Filipinas/Ako ay Filipino” wholeheartedly. Related Posts
